That What We Desire, We Shall Never Have

Nine screen audio-visual installation about (digital) consumerism

The story "Daughters Of The Moon" covers the themes of consumerism, the impact humanity has on nature, and social classes. Even though it was written in 1968, it's still (and maybe even more) relevant in today's world. In this nine-screen installation, the work of Italo Calvino is shaped in a contemporary way.

The story is divided into 65 prompts, highlighting the most important parts of the story. Because every prompt generates nine images, I decided to use nine screens. By providing the viewer with more images than they can focus on, this installation aims to portray our society, which is so full of products, not only physically but also considering all the digital waste in our current world. Artificial intelligence can be seen as a part of our longing to create, generate, have, and use. An overload of everything, now happening even online.
